Wheeeeee!  This was a fun one folks!  One of the best comedy roles I’ve ever had was in Prince Gomolvilas’ BIG HUNK O’ BURNIN’ LOVE many years ago at East West Players.  That was when Chay Yew was just beginning to direct!  So it was with great excitement that I said a big YES to workshopping his new play THE BROTHERS PARANORMAL at La Jolla Playhouse, directed by Jeff Liu, in partnership with East West Players.  I so loved Prince’s fantastical, frightening and funny theatrical concoction about the world of the paranormal — sort of like BIG HUNK meeting GHOSTBUSTERS — “Two Thai-American brothers launch a ghost-hunting business in order to capitalize on the nationwide increase in sightings of Asian-looking ghosts. When the siblings end up investigating the home of a couple that claims to be haunted by one very terrifying spirit, everyone’s notions of reality, fantasy, and sanity clash against the shocking truth.”

Jeff did a great job keeping all the wildly divergent emotional colors in balance, and I loved working with my divine castmates Yolanda Franklin, David Huynh, Dana Lau, Victor Morris, and Roy Vongtama.  Terrific reception at our full house reading, and here’s hoping Prince’s very fresh and original comedy will be picked up.

Thanks  Prince, thanks Jeff, and thanks La Jolla Playhouse!
