HOLD THESE TRUTHS Coming Home to Seattle at ACT Theatre, July 31st to August 3rd, sponsored by the Tateuchi Foundation

It only took 17 years!  HOLD THESE TRUTHS is finally “coming home” to Seattle, where Gordon Hirabayashi was a student at the University of Washington when he made the life-changing decision to challenge US government orders to forcibly remove all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast and imprison them behind barbed wire.  Warmest and deepest gratitude to the Ina Goodwin Tateuchi and Dan Asher of the Tateuchi Foundation, who are providing most of the funding, and to ACT Theatre for presenting the story of one of Seattle’s most celebrated native sons.

Opening night is already sold out, with many of Gordon’s extended family all set to attend, as well as people who knew him best from the Seattle community.  We can’t wait to get there!  Gordon’s sister Esther, his only surviving sibling, has already rounded up over 100 friends to come see our portrayal of her brother Gordon’s amazing American story.

Joel de la Fuente, currently starring as Dr. Jonathan Pryce on Netflix’s hit series HEMLOCK GROVE, will jump back into the saddle again to share his astounding, critically acclaimed performance as Gordon — and 36 other characters! — which earned him 2013 Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance, directed by Lisa Rothe, 2013 Finalist for the Joe A. Callaway Award for Outstanding Director.  You’ll have a chance to see Joel in action for 4 performances, July 31 to August 3.  It’s going to be a fantastic celebration!  Join us and help celebrate bringing Gordon’s story home!
